Rosa is a municipality in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia . The fulfilling municipality for Rosa is the municipality of Breitungen / Werra . The communities of Roßdorf and Fambach are also represented in the association .

geography

Rosa is located in the Rosatal at the foot of the 620 m high Stopfelskuppe , an extinct volcanic cone , and near the Pleß viewing mountain .

history

Rosa was first mentioned in documents from 803 to 817. It was related to a donation to the Fulda monastery . The place was issued in 1317 as a fiefdom to Bertold von Wildsprechtroda . In 1350 Rosa was sold to Johann Schenk von Lichtenberg. As a parish, the place went to Wetzel von Stein in 1390.

It is assumed that the Rosa church emerged from a fortified fortification or from a manor house. In 1456 a bower is mentioned that is said to have stood next to the church. The square church tower demonstrates a defensive character. The loopholes in the cemetery wall also suggest it.

Rosa was affected by the persecution of witches : Margaretha, wife of the shepherd Hans von Königshofen, was executed in a witch trial in 1597 .

The place in the Amt Sand belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen since 1680 .

The community belonged to the Vorderrhön administrative community from 1992 to 1996 , to which the Roßdorf community also belonged. With this dissolution, Breitungen / Werra became the fulfilling community for Rosa.

Community structure

As a result of the regional and administrative reform of 1994, the place Georgenzell was incorporated.

The council in pink consists of 8 council members. In the last local election on May 26, 2019, all seats went to representatives of the CDU .

In the mayoral election on June 5, 2016, Silvio Hartmann (CDU) was elected honorary mayor. Ulrich Leifer had previously been in office since 1999.
