Erbenhausen is a municipality in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia . It belongs to the administrative community Hohe Rhön , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Kaltennordheim .

geography

Erbenhausen is located in the southwest of the Vorderen Rhön , at the foot of the Alte Mark, at an altitude of 502 m above sea ​​level . The Felda rises south of the core town and the Herpf in the Schafhausen district .

Erbenhausen is on Landstrasse 2621, which connects to Reichenhausen (approx. 1 km away) and thus to the B 285 ( Bad Salzungen - Mellrichstadt ). The district town of Meiningen (approx. 25 km away) can also be reached via the Rhönblick community via the K 2521 .

history

The place was first mentioned in 845. He belonged to the office of Kaltennordheim in the county of Henneberg , later to Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach ( Eisenacher Oberland ).

Erbenhausen was affected by the persecution of witches from 1678 to 1731. Four women got into a witch trial . The outcome of two processes is unknown. In 1731 two people were acquitted.
