Reichenhausen is a district of Erbenhausen in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia . With 190 inhabitants, Reichenhausen is the most populous part of the municipality.

The landscape around Reichenhausen is characterized by the basalt peaks of the Vorderen Rhön . A source brook of the Felda rises near Reichenhausen. The federal road 285 and the state road 1123 open the place to traffic.
history
In 1317 the place was first mentioned as Richhildehusen . He belonged to the office of Kaltennordheim in the county of Henneberg , later to Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach ( Eisenacher Oberland ). Agriculture has been the main source of income for centuries. In the 19th century the production of whips was of economic importance.
Attractions
The Reichenhausen village church was built in 1737 in place of a previous church that had become too small.
