The Christ Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church named after Jesus Christ in Unterrottmannsdorf ( Deanery Ansbach ).

History

The residents of Unterrottmannsdorf were parish to St. Alban (Saxony near Ansbach) from the start . In 1949/1950, on the initiative of the farmer Georg Ströhlein († July 2, 1979), the church was built on a property donated by Georg Schiefer. Since the church leadership did not want to participate in the construction, a loan was taken out, for which he and four other families with house and yard guaranteed. With the help of the residents, the construction costs amounted to 40,324 marks. It could be consecrated on July 16, 1950. Every two weeks a Sunday service is held, which is held alternately by the Saxon pastor and professors and lecturers from the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau . In return, the university receives annual thanksgiving from the village.

Building description

The nave , made of sandstone blocks, has a round arch portal on the west side, six round arched windows on the south side and three round arched windows on the north side. The choir , which has no windows on the ground floor, is to the east. This was extended in 1962 by a protruding exposed brick attachment with an octagonal pointed helmet to the choir tower . The sacristy with a hipped roof connects to the south. To the west of the church is a cemetery.

The single-nave hall ends with a rounded wooden ceiling. In the choir, which is connected to the hall by a round arch portal, there is a high altar made of stone blocks with a crucifix and two wooden figures of saints. On the east wall of the hall there is a slightly raised polygonal wooden pulpit on the right side of the portal. The octagonal stone baptismal font stands on the left side of the portal. An organ gallery is located on the west side of the hall.
