The Christ Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church named after Jesus Christ in Herrieden ( Deanery Ansbach ).

Parish

The area around Herrieden was originally purely Catholic. The first inhabitants of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination existed at the beginning of the 19th century. They were parish to St. Laurentius (Elpersdorf near Ansbach) . In 1842 there was a plan to build a Lutheran church in Herrieden, which, however, could not be implemented. When the number of Lutherans in the Herrieder room rose to almost 200 in the 1920s, a room was rented at the Wehr brewery in 1923 to hold church services. From May 18, 1928, the town hall hall served as a church service room. Altar, crucifix, altar ceiling and more were provided by the citizens. On March 19, 1933, the move was finally carried out in a room of the former district court . In 1943 the parish wanted to purchase the entire building, but was rejected because the building was to be used as a Hitler Youth home . Instead, the Protestants were allowed to use the Catholic Church of Our Lady . Their number rose sharply due to the influx of bomb refugees and, after 1945, also of those who had been expelled from their homes . On February 9, 1947, the building of a church was approved. 37,000 RM were available as capital for this purpose. According to the plans of the Ansbach architects Holzberger and Schramek, construction began on October 24, 1947. The church was consecrated on November 4, 1951. The parish was a branch of Elpersdorf, but had its own church council and administration from the start.

At the beginning of the 1990s there were 900 parishioners there, which led to the Christ Church being elevated to a parish in the following years. The parish now includes the political community of Herrieden with the exception of Höfstetten , Seebronn and Steinbach and has 1900 members.
