St. Mauritius is an Evangelical Lutheran church named after Saint Mauritius in Warzfelden ( Deanery Ansbach ).

The church could have been built on the foundation walls of a former fortress from the 10th century, which the field name Burgwieslein refers to. However, the church is first attested to in 1399, when the altar was consecrated. Originally the choir tower made of sandstone blocks is in the east. It is unclear when the hall was added to the west and the sacristy to the north.

The cemetery wall was probably built in the 18th century. The half-timbered tower top with a helmet drawn in on eight sides was made in 1799. In 1863 the church received a new high altar, which, like the organ, is in the choir. The pointed roof nave was rebuilt in 1906 from sandstone blocks. It has three arched windows on the south side. Inside, a gallery was added on the north side. In 1981, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the town of Warzfelden, the church received an oversized fresco of Saint Mauritius from the artist Maria Knie-Hager , which is located above the pulpit on the east wall of the nave. Exterior renovations took place in 1986 and 2014.

Originally, St. Mauritius was a branch of St. Andreas (Dietenhofen) . Around 1820 St. Martin (Kleinhaslach) formed a parish to which St. Mauritius also belonged. On December 19, 1842, St. Martin was elevated to a parish. The St. Mauritius branch supplies the Evangelical Lutheran Christians in Adelmannsdorf , Beutellohe , Kleinhabersdorf and Warzfelden.
