St. Veit (Weihenzell)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Veit was a chapel named after St. Veit in Weihenzell in the Ansbach district . The chapel was on the way to Petersdorf on the so-called Kappellberg.

St. Vitus was possibly built in the 12th century. It had a square footprint of 25 shoe sides and a height of 20 shoes. It was a former pilgrimage chapel. The mass was also read on the quarter days . With the introduction of the Reformation in 1528, the pilgrimages were stopped.

Around 1810 there was only one ruin that had to be demolished because of the risk of collapse. The stones were used to build roads. In 1933 the foundation walls were also excavated and used for road construction, so that nothing remains of the chapel today.
