Chromium (II) iodide is an inorganic chemical compound of chromium from the group of iodides .
Extraction and presentation
Chromium (II) iodide can be obtained by reacting chromium with iodine .
properties
Chromium (II) iodide is a solid that is extremely sensitive to air and moisture and is available in the form of brownish-red flakes, with thinner flakes being translucent. It is easily soluble in air-free water. The air-free solution is light blue in color, otherwise it is green. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (distorted cadmium (II) iodide type) in the space group Cmcm (space group no. 63) .
