Johannes Chrysostomus Giner (actually Josef Giner ; born February 23, 1930 in Thaur ) is an Augustinian canon and emeritus provost of the monastery of Neustift monastery in Vahrn near Brixen ( South Tyrol ).

Life

In 1949 Giner, nephew of the local abbot Ambros Giner , joined the Neustift monastery. As a result, he completed a degree in theology in Rome , which he completed with his doctorate . In 1954 he was ordained a priest in the Neustift collegiate church. He then worked for a few years as a cooperator in Assling , teacher at the Neustift monastery school, novice master and pastor of the Catholic Youth Austria in Vienna . Giner taught the subject "Salvation Mystery" at the Philosophical-Theological University of Brixen .

In 1969 Giner was elected the youngest prelate of the Congregation of the Austrian Augustinian Canons . From 1969 to 2005 he was provost of the Neustift monastery. Under his aegis, infrastructures for tourism and training were built in the monastery, the collegiate church was renovated in 1982 and the 850th anniversary celebrations were celebrated in 1992.
