Cinco fueron escogidos (German: Five were chosen ) is a Mexican film from the year 1943. The director of this war film led Herbert Kline . Thescript basedon a template by Budd Schulberg was written by Rafael M. Muñoz and Xavier Villaurrutia .

The film takes place in the Wehrmacht occupied Yugoslavia . A Nazi official was killed in a small town, causing the occupiers to retaliate. Five of the town's residents are sentenced to death. They represent the different groups in the city: one of them is an aristocrat, one of the mayors, one of the city policemen, one a hairdresser and one an employee. In addition to these five, a homeless man is also to be executed. The families and neighbors endeavor to have the death sentences overturned. In the end, however, the National Socialist occupiers had the executions carried out.

There are reports that a version in English was filmed by Cinco for on escogidos at the same time. This will, among other things Art Smith , Victor Kilian , Howard Da Silva , Ricardo Montalbán and Leonid Kinskey have played. However, there is no information on whether this version of the film was ever released. Cinco fueron escogidos was produced by Alpha Films . It premiered in Mexico on July 8, 1943.
