Claire Nitch (born August 7, 1971 in Johannesburg ) is a former South African squash player .

Career

Claire Nitch played on the WSA World Tour from the early 1990s . She reached her highest place in the world rankings with ninth place in July 1994.

With the South African national team she took part in the World Cup in 1992 , 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 2000 , 2002 , 2004 and 2006 . At the Commonwealth Games in 1998 she was also part of the South African squad. In the singles she was eliminated in the round of 16 against Cassie Jackman , in the mixed competition she did not get past the quarterfinals with Craig van der Wath . In doubles, she reached the semifinals with Natalie Grainger , which meant winning the bronze medal.

Between 1990 and 2000 she was ten times in the main draw of the World Championships in singles. She reached the round of 16 seven times, her best performance. She played her last season in 2000. She was a six-time South African champion.
