Clara Döhring

Clara Döhring , b. Wohlfarth (born March 13, 1899 in Saalfeld / Saale ; † June 7, 1987 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After an apprenticeship as a clerk Döhring was 1,920 to 1,930 employees at the main board of the German Metalworkers' Federation in Stuttgart . from 1936 to 1948 she was a clerk at the AOK in Stuttgart. She then became a full-time women's secretary for the trade unions in Württemberg-Baden and honorary chairwoman of the state women's committee. She represented the trade unions in the “German Council of the European Movement”.

Political party

Clara Döhring had been a member of the SPD since 1917. After the Second World War, she got involved in the rebuilding of social democracy in Württemberg.

MPs

Döhring was a member of the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1965. She was elected in the first electoral term in the constituency of Stuttgart I and later on the state list in Baden-Württemberg . She enforced that the blind pay was no longer only paid to war but also to civilian blind. In addition, she played a major role in the Maternity Protection Act of 1951 and was committed to expanding day-care centers as early as 1956 .
