Clara Quandt

Clara Quandt (born December 1841 in Rügenwalde , Pomerania , † April 25, 1919 in Neustadt , West Prussia ) was a German writer and teacher .

Life

Quandt came from an old Königsberg bourgeois family and was a descendant of the Königsberg court preacher Johann Jakob Quandt . She was the daughter of the Protestant superintendent Johann Ludwig Quandt (1801–1871), a popular Pomeranian pulpit speaker and historical researcher at the time, who had been pastor of the Marienkirche in Rügenwalde from 1836–1849 . She had been a teacher in Stettin since 1859 and head of a private secondary school for girls in Neustadt from 1869 .

As a writer, Quandt preferred topics from the old Prussian past, especially from the time of Christianization in the East and the Reformation . She was particularly successful with her historical story Johann Knade's self-knowledge , published in 1880 during the Reformation , and published six times by 1922.
