Claude Azéma

Claude-Joseph Azéma (born July 5, 1943 in Vailhauquès , Hérault , France ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Montpellier .

Life

Claude Azéma studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Montpellier and at the Institut Catholique de Paris . He received on 29 June 1969, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After pastoral work in Montpellier, he was vicar general (1994–2002, 2002–2003) and diocesan administrator (2002).

On 22 May 2003 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Murcona and ordered him auxiliary bishop in Montpellier. The Archbishop of Montpellier, Guy Thomazeau , gave him episcopal ordination on August 31 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Bordeaux , Jean-Pierre Ricard , and the Bishop of Nîmes , Robert Wattebled .

Pope Francis granted his resignation for reasons of age on July 5, 2018.
