Claude Barthélemy (born May 9, 1945 in Cap-Haïtien , † April 6, 2020 in New Jersey ) was a Haitian football player .

Player career

Club career

Barthélemy played for Detroit Cougars in the United States in 1968 . There he came to three missions and provided one assist. He later moved back home, where he spent most of his active career, and played there for RC Haïtien .

National team career

In qualifying for the 1970 World Cup , Barthélemy was in action nine times. With Haiti , he made it to the play-off against El Salvador and was also in action in this encounter. Haiti lost the game 1-0, so qualifying for the 1970 World Cup had failed.

In the course of qualifying for the 1974 World Cup , he was back in the squad and played three games. This time the qualification could be achieved and so he took part with Haiti for the first time in the 1974 World Cup. There he came on against Italy in the 46th minute for Guy Saint-Vil , against Poland he was already used in the 37th minute for Fritz André .

Coaching career

As a soccer coach , he was responsible for the Haitian national soccer team from 1984 to 1985 .
