Claude Gilliot

Claude Gilliot (born January 6, 1940 in Guemps ) is a French scholar of Islam and an Arabist from the Dominican order . He completed his Doctorat d'état in 1987 on Aspects de l'imaginaire islamique commun dans le Commentaire de Tabari . He is professor emeritus for Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Provence and author of various articles on Koran exegesis and Islamic theology from the "classical" period. His research focus is the investigation of the process of origin of the Koran . Gilliot pointed example, points out that the high proportion of Karramiten in Khorasan on the interpretation of the Koran in the western research was unknown for long.
