Claude Martí (born March 6, 1940 in Carcassonne ) is a French songwriter , poet and novelist . The on Occitan singing Martí was in the 1970s one of the central figures of Nova Cancon .

Live and act

Marti worked as a teacher in Couffoulens between 1971 and 1998 . Along with Mauris Sgaravizzi, he was one of the first to sing in Occitan again and to write fiction in this language. His songs were first popularized by the Larzac movement. In the first few years he performed his songs alone on the guitar. He has been accompanied by Gérard Pansanel on guitar, Pierre Peyras on double bass, Joël Allouche and Patrice Héral on drums and guests such as Michel Marre , Olivier Chabrol and Lionel Suarez since the early 1980s .

In 1997 Martí worked with Pansanel and accordionist Antonello Salis as a composer and musician on Éric Rohmer's film Herbstgeschichte ; In 2008 Pansanel created the music for the documentary Et pourtant elle tourne .

Martí received a Prix Mondial Liberpress and a Grand Prix of the Académie Charles-Cros .
