Claudia Bryar

Claudia Bryar , a native of Hortense Rizley (born May 18, 1918 in Guymon , Oklahoma , † June 16, 2011 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Claudia Bryar was born under the name Hortense Rizley. She was the daughter of Congressman and Federal Judge Ross Rizley . She began her acting career at the Pasadena Playhouse . She played on several theater stages before she was able to establish herself as a film actress in several television series and smaller roles in movies in the mid-1950s. Until she retired from acting in 1986, she worked in over 100 different film and television productions. She appeared in isolated episodes in television series such as Bonanza , The Waltons and Barnaby Jones, as well as minor roles in films such as Giants and In Bad Company . Perhaps her best-known role was that of restaurant manager Emma Spool in the horror film Psycho II .

Bryar died on June 16, 2011 at the age of 93. Until his death on August 30, 1985, she was married to the actor Paul Bryar . She left behind three sons, including the musician Paul Barrère , and was survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
