Claudia Sabine Meier (* 25. October 1968 as Andreas Meier Heribert in Bern , Switzerland ) is a Swiss activist for improving the situation of transgender people in Switzerland. She describes herself as a 'life artist'.

Life

Meier grew up in Schwefelbergbad and completed numerous training courses in the hotel business. She graduated, among other things, as a federal. Graduate in business administration and entrepreneur. She also trained as a coach, personnel diagnostician and developer at various universities of applied sciences. Meier married and had a daughter, later divorced. Sex reassignment surgery followed in Munich in 2012 .

Between 2000 and 2012, Meier ran the Resort Hotel Schwefelberg-Bad, which he had taken over from his parents . She sold the hotel in 2012 in order to reorient herself and finally to be able to dedicate herself to the operation in Munich. Meier achieved media presence primarily through his life as a hotelier and the implementation of various precedents for transgender people in Switzerland.

It is thanks to her that the name change in the canton of Bern for transgender people has been easier since 2011 . By clever use of the media, this led to motions in the Bern government. After this change, the first name was changed from Mr. Andreas Heribert to Mr. Claudia Sabine, which however, in Switzerland, has no effect on the gender entry.

Since Switzerland has no special law for trans people, Meier campaigned in 2012 for the precedent to be able to implement the gender change purely on an expert level without medical measures. In the 3rd quarter of 2012, the regional court of Bern-Mittelland decided with the decision CIV 12 1217 JAC that neither hormone therapy nor surgical intervention was necessary for changing the civil status; appropriate psychological reports are decisive. Only then was the gender entry changed from '' M '' to '' F ''.

In 2014 she applied as a former Fourier to the Swissint of the Swiss Army . Despite Article 25.60 (“Disruption of gender identity”) in the Nosologia Militaris , which stipulates that transgender people are absolutely unfit for service in the Swiss army, she performed a Swisscoy mission in Kosovo , not as a Fourier, but as a cook. The program “Mensch Claudia” broadcast in the series “Reporter on SRF1” shows that this was the agreement between Meier and the army to find a consensus to qualify them as the first transgender person in the Swiss army.

She uses lectures and workshops in schools, companies and organizations to promote greater understanding in society for trans people. Accompanies and coaches those affected in Switzerland. Meier announced an autobiography with the name Oh Mann, Frau Meier in the show Giacobbo / Müller in 2016 , which was published in March 2018. Meier has been mentioned in numerous domestic and foreign media and is considered a well-known trans woman in Switzerland.
