Frank Harting (born January 7, 1961 in Dankersen ) is a former German handball player . The right winger played for TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen , OSC Dortmund , HSG TuRU Düsseldorf and TUSEM Essen in the Bundesliga .

Career

Harting began playing handball in his hometown of Dankersen at TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen and became German champions in 1978 with his youth team. In 1981 he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with Dankersen and was immediately promoted again. In the 1986/87 season he played for the OSC Dortmund and then joined the HSG TuRU Düsseldorf , with which he won the IHF Cup in 1989 . The following year, the club was relegated from the Bundesliga and Harting made it to the Bundesliga for the second time in his career. From 1992 to 1994 he played for TUSEM Essen and won a European Cup competition for the second time. In the final of the newly created Euro-City-Cup , the people of Essen confidently defeated the Swedish representative HK Drott Halmstad . Then he moved again to Düsseldorf. TuRU Düsseldorf had meanwhile broken out of the syndicate with HSV Düsseldorf and had to switch to the amateur area, while HSV continued to compete in the Bundesliga.

Harting was initially a youth national player and made his debut for the German national team in 1981 on his 20th birthday in an away game against the Soviet Union in Moscow . He made a total of 26 international matches and took part in the 1982 World Cup.

His brother Uwe was also a handball player in the Bundesliga.
