Claudie Blakley

Claudie Blakley (* 1974 in England ) is a British film and theater actress .

Life

Her father was Alan Blakley , who died of cancer in 1996 , and was the bassist with Brian Pooles Tremeloes , a popular pop band in the 1960s. Her sister Kirsten Blakley is the lead singer with the British indie band Little Spitfire .

Claudie Blakley studied acting at the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama in London. In 1998 she won the Ian Charleson Award for her performance in The Seagull at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. She became known to an international audience for her role as Mabel Nesbitt in the 2001 Oscar-winning costume film Gosford Park by Robert Altman and in 2005 starring alongside Keira Knightley in the role of Charlotte Lucas in the Jane Austen film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice , directed by Joe Wright . In the fall of 2007, she appeared on the BBC miniseries Cranford and Lark Rise to Candlefold .
