Claudio Cavadini

Claudio Cavadini (born June 28, 1935 in Mendrisio , Ticino ) is a Swiss composer.

Life and career

He received his diploma in composition from the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna .

As a composer, he has written symphonic works, chamber music , choral pieces as well as texts and music for music lessons in school. He is also the editor of previously unpublished Italian works from the 17th and 18th centuries.

He also worked as a specialist advisor for music lessons at the secondary school in the canton of Ticino and as a teacher at the Higher Pedagogical College of Locarno, dealing with questions of music didactics . He published his works on music lessons from pre-school to high school in both Switzerland and Italy.

As a music researcher and arranger of Italian pieces of music from the 17th and 18th centuries, he revived works by Centorio, Bissone and Brusaschi in performances.

  • 1966: First prize at the International RTSI - Febati Competition for Symphonic Music;
  • 1968: Prize at the international competition “Roberto Galfetti” for choral music;
  • 1972: Finalist in the “Viotti” competition in Vercelli for chamber music ;
  • 1982: Winning the Ticino finals of the television competition "Etoile dŒor" for boys' choir;
  • 1985: First place in the finals of the federal television competition “MusiCHa” for wind orchestra;
  • 1985: Composition Prize of the Musica Ticinensis -Febati for the European Year of Music
