Claudio Francesco Scremin (born May 28, 1968 in Burnaby , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career he played for the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League , the Kansas City Blades in the International Hockey League and the Hannover Scorpions and Krefeld Penguins in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Scremin initially played at the University of Maine from 1986 to 1990 . In a total of 109 games for the college team in the Hockey East of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , he scored 84 points. During his time in college he was selected in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft in the tenth round in 204th position by the Washington Capitals . In November 1988, the Capitals gave the rights to his person in exchange for goalkeeper Don Beaupre to the Minnesota North Stars .
For the 1990/91 season, the Italian-Canadian started his first professional season with the Kansas City Blades , a team of the International Hockey League (IHL). As this cooperation with the newly established for 1991/92 NHL - Franchise San Jose Sharks were received, the defender signed a contract there. Scremin stayed with the Kansas City Blades until the end of the 1997/98 season, but was also used in the NHL in the 1991/92 and 1992/93 seasons and made a total of 17 NHL games. He celebrated his greatest success in the 1991/92 season by winning the Turner Cup .
After the 1997/98 season Scremin moved to Europe, where he had already played games for HC Varese in the 1993/94 season . This time he played for the Hannover Scorpions and Krefeld Pinguine in the DEL , as well as for the London Knights in the British Ice Hockey Superleague , before ending his career in 2001.
At the Kansas City Blades, Scremin holds the franchise record for most games at 550.
