Claus Löser (* 1962 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German author , curator , film historian and specialist journalist .

Training and activities

Since 1990, Löser has been a program designer in the cinema of the cultural institution “Brotfabrik” in Berlin-Weißensee . In 1992 he started working as a freelance writer. After studying at the Potsdam-Babelsberg Film School , which he graduated with a diploma in 1995 , he founded the film archive "ex.oriente.lux" in 1996, which is dedicated to East German underground and experimental films. His dissertation Strategies of Denial: Investigations into the Political-Aesthetic Gesture of Unadapted Cinematic Articulations in the Late Period of the GDR was published in 2011 in the DEFA Foundation's series of publications. From 2013 to 2015 he was a board member of the Association of German Film Critics and has been a member of the advisory board since then.

Löser lives and works in Berlin .
