Claus Peter Poppe (born March 1, 1948 in Lohne (Oldenburg) ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2003 to 2014 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament , since 2014 it is integrated municipality mayor in Artland .
Claus Peter Poppe is married and has two children.
education and profession
After graduating from high school, Poppe studied German and sports in Göttingen and Austin (Texas) . After his legal clerkship he was a teacher at the Gymnasium Lohne from 1975 to 1995 , most recently as director of studies. He then headed the Artland-Gymnasium in Quakenbrück until his election to the state parliament in 2003 .
politics
Poppe has been a member of the SPD since 1975. He is the spokesman for the "SPD and Churches Discussion Group" in the Osnabrück region.
From 1976 to 1996 he was councilor of the city of Lohne, most recently as chairman of the SPD city council faction, from 1986 to 1996 a member of the district council in the Vechta district . Since 2001 he has been a member of the Artland council .
In 2003 , 2008 and 2013 Claus Peter Poppe was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list. From 2008 to 2014 he was chairman of the cultural committee, after having been deputy chairman from 2003 to 2008. He was also the spokesman for his parliamentary group for churches, religious and ideological communities.
In 2011 Claus Peter Poppe was elected honorary mayor of the city of Quakenbrück. In 2014 he won the direct election as mayor of the joint municipality of Artland. He then resigned his mandate in the Landtag; Karin Logemann moved up for him in the Landtag.
