Claus Robert Krumrei

Claus Robert Krumrei (born April 4, 1955 in Delmenhorst ) is a German diplomat . Since July 2018 he has been Consul General in Milan / Italy .

Life

After graduating from high school, Krumrei did military service in the German Navy between 1974 and 1978 and then began studying law and history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1979 . After the first state examination in 1984, he was a trainee lawyer in Munich until 1985 and then began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service in 1985.

After a position in the international law department at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn in 1986, he became an employee of the Foreign Policy Department of the Federal Chancellery in 1987 and then between 1988 and 1990 at the Embassy in Colombia . He then worked in the situation center of the Federal Foreign Office from 1990 to 1993 and then from 1993 to 1995 a member of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group before he was deputy head of the Consulate General in Hong Kong from 1995 to 1997 .

After Krumrei was Head of Division in the Political Department of the Embassy in Russia between 1997 and 1999 , he was Deputy Head of the Division for Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova in the Foreign Office from 1999 to 2003. He subsequently took part in a one-year exchange program at the United States Department of State between 2003 and 2004 and then stayed in Washington, DC from 2004 to 2006 as Head of Unit in the US Embassy’s Political Department .

After his return to Germany, he was head of department for Central Europe between 2006 and 2010 and then deputy chief of protocol at the Foreign Office from 2010 to 2011, before he was last responsible for personnel at the Foreign Office between 2011 and 2014.

From 2014 to 2017 Krumrei was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Denmark . After a language stay in Italy, he took over the post of Consul General in Milan in July 2018.
