Clemens August von Kerckerinck zur Borg (born April 19, 1720 in Haus Borg ; † 1755 ) was canon in Münster and Paderborn as well as treasurer of the Electorate of Cologne .

Life

Origin and family

As the son of Jobst Stephan von Kerckerinck zur Borg and his wife Maria Agnes Dorothea von Ketteler zu Bollen, Clemens August von Kerckerinck zur Borg came from the old Westphalian hereditary family Kerckerinck , which had played an important role in the Münster hereditary dispute . Before Clemens August was able to enjoy the cathedral praise in Münster and Paderborn in 1740 because his brother Kaspar Nikolaus waived his rights , he took a preparatory course at the University of Angers . In 1748 he renounced in favor of Franz Wilhelm von Fürstenberg in Münster and Clemens August von Plettenberg in Paderborn and married the baroness Elisabeth de Surmont-Vlooswyt. In the same year he became treasurer of the Electorate of Cologne . After the death of his brother Kaspar Nikolaus in 1746, he became the guardian of his nephew, who was also called Clemens August. In this role he also took responsibility for the family's bankruptcy process. He resigned his guardianship when he married in 1748.
