Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on February 23, 1725, Kaspar Nikolaus was prepared for a spiritual life. In his role as Turnar his uncle Goswin Konrad nominated him for a Dompräbende in Munster . This made him one of the first beneficiaries from the hereditary families who were able to take this position after a dispute with the cathedral chapter for over 150 years . Also in 1725, Kaspar Nikolaus received a cathedral priest in Paderborn . From 1732 to 1733 he studied at the University of Orléans . With his marriage, Kaspar renounced his cathedral preachers in favor of his brother Clemens August. With the revolt to the knighthood of Münster on December 3, 1742, he belonged to the state parliament , a body made up of the three estates. His task was to regulate the tax system and from 1747 also the feuding system in the bishopric of Münster .

Kaspar Nikolaus plunged the entire family into a serious debt crisis that led to bankruptcy in 1749 . It was not until 1782 that his son Clemens August managed to end the bankruptcy proceedings.
