Clemens Carl Buff
Clemens Carl Buff (born November 20, 1853 in Bremen , † February 23, 1940 in Bremen) was Bremen's senator and mayor .
biography
Clemens Carl Buff was the son of mayor (1883–1890) and businessman Carl Friedrich Christian Buff . After attending grammar school in Bremen, he studied law in Strasbourg , Bonn and Göttingen and completed his studies with a doctorate. jur. from. He began his professional activity as a lawyer in Bremen in 1877 and also became a notary in 1884 . He was active in the church, welfare and business sectors, and he became chairman of the trade and industry association.
From 1892 to 1895 was a member of the Bremen citizenship . In 1895 he was appointed senator in Bremen and he took the office of landlord (administration, police, dyke system) for the Bremen rural communities that still existed at that time. From 1911 was responsible for the police. From 1914 to 1917 he was next to Karl FH Stadtländer and Carl Georg Barkhausen mayor of Bremen and 1915 and 1917 President of the Senate. In 1919 he left the Senate.
He then became a member of the German National People's Party and its state chairman. For the DNVP he was a member of the Bremen citizenship from 1920 to 1927. In 1922 he founded the German Aviation Association with its seat in Bremen and was also president of the association. From 1918 to 1933 he succeeded Mayor Dr. Carl Georg Barkhausen also chairman of the Bremer Bürgerpark Verein. He withdrew from politics after 1927.
