Clemens Herbermann (born March 6, 1910 in Munster ; † September 3, 1987 in Nottuln ) was a German journalist, editor and publisher.

Life

Herbermann completed his school days in Hamm . During his last school years he published his "Sports Press Service" with some success. He then studied law at the University of Münster .

Herbermann then got a job with the "Westfälische Zeitung". First worked in their local editorial office in Bielefeld , then from 1936 - also local editorial staff - in Soest . In 1938 he was called to Opole, where he was entrusted with setting up a press office. The beginning of the Second World War then prevented further plans.

Herbermann became a soldier and was later taken prisoner by the Soviets. In 1948 he came back to Soest and was able to succeed there again as an editor in the same year. In 1951 he took over the management of the press office of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association in Münster . As such, he acted until 1975 as the editor of the “ Westfalenspiegel ”, a magazine devoted to the culture of Westphalia. According to Herbermann, the promotion of regional Westphalian literature was particularly important to Herbermann.

In addition to his daily work as a journalist, Herbermann worked for many years on the board of the Westphalian Heimatbund and thus also on the Presidium of the German Heimatbund . The German Association of Cities saw him as an important member of its press office and he also had a key position on the board of the WDR program advisory board.

Clemens Herbermann died at the age of 87 on September 3, 1987 in Nottuln and found his final resting place there.
