Clemens Theobert Schedler
Clemens Theobert Schedler (* 1962 in Gräfelfing in Munich ) is an Austrian graphic designer , typographer and book designer . For many years he has also been a sought-after moderator and speaker at typography symposia.
life and work
He grew up in Vorarlberg , Austria. In 1982 he studied art history for a year in Salzburg. In 1983 he moved to Vienna and attended the technical college for commercial graphics at the Höhere Graphische Bundes-Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt , a vocational school for four years . From 1987 he worked as a freelancer in the graphic office of Walter Bohatsch and at the advertising agencies Demner & Merlicek and DDB Needham Heye & Partner. In 1993 he founded Bohatsch und Schedler GmbH together with Walter Bohatsch. In 1996 the two separated. He has been running his own office for concrete design since 1997 .
Corporate Design
In the corporate design (CD) area, he developed and designed the CD basic elements, business equipment, publications and communication media for well-known institutions and offices: architect Peter Zumthor , architect Michael Loudon, Hotel Therme Vals , Schloss Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, Kunsthaus Bregenz , KWF Carinthian Economic Development Fund, Lakeside Science & Technology Park in Klagenfurt, vai Vorarlberger Architektur Institut, Design-Austria professional association of graphic designers, illustrators and product designers in Austria.
In 2003 Schedler took part in the design competition for the Kiel Week , the "Olympics for graphic designers". Not only did he win the Kiel corporate design competition, he also received the prize for the best business poster in Germany in 2003 for the poster for the Kiel Week.
Book design
The book series Landscape of Knowledge presents exemplary European projects on economic strategies for rural areas. Schedler acts here as initiator, co-editor and designer. In 2005, the first volume, “ Strategies of the Crafts”, followed in 2006, followed by the second volume, Knowledge Creates Companies . For his book design he received the State Prize for The Most Beautiful Books in Austria 2005 and the silver medal in the competition for the most beautiful books from all over the world .
Moderation
From 2008 to 2016 he moderated VLOW! - Festival in the space between communication, design and architecture , organized by Kongresskultur Bregenz GmbH. Since 2011 he has moderated the symposia of the typographical society austria (tga) at Raabs Castle and the typography symposia Typo St. Gallen at the St. Gallen School of Design .
Clemens Theobert Schedler is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) and Design Austria (DA). He lives and works in Vienna.
