Clifford Isaac "Cliff" Morgan , OBE (born April 7, 1930 in Trebanog , Rhondda Cynon Taf , Glamorgan ; † August 29, 2013 ) was a Welsh rugby union player who was used as a connector . He was active for the Welsh national team and the British and Irish Lions .

Career

Morgan began his playing career with the Cardiff RFC after the end of World War II . In 1951 he was first used in the national team against Ireland . A year later he won the Five Nations Grand Slam with Wales . In 1955 he was nominated for the Lions tour to South Africa and used in all four games. In the first test he also put an attempt . At the end of the tour he was voted the best player.

When his active career ended, Morgan began working as a sports reporter on television for the BBC . He was best known as a commentator in 1973 when he commented on the legendary game of the Barbarians against New Zealand and the attempt by Gareth Edwards . BBC Wales awarded him 2007 for Lifetime Achievement.
