Clinton is a city in Henry County , Missouri , United States . According to a census from 2010, 9008 people live in an area of 24.0 km². 95% of the population are white and 1.9% are African American .
Clinton is at the western end of the Katy Trail , a 225 mile long national park used by the cyclists, runners, and horse riders. The park was built on the route of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad that ran between Clinton and Sedalia and went out of service in 1989. The old Katy Trail from Clinton to Nevada South is still running. The town is near Truman Lake, which is known for its boating, fishing, and camping opportunities.
The Bensen Center is a large, modern meeting hall. In 2006 a large indoor swimming pool complex opened.
On June 26, 2006, a building collapsed in the historic city center where an association was meeting at the time. One person died and nine more had to be pulled from the rubble.
