Cocody is a city in the Abidjan district in the south of the Ivory Coast . Before the decentralization carried out in 2002, Cocody was a district of the then city of Abidjan (today's district).

Infrastructure

Cocody covers an area of ​​64 km² and in 1998 had 251,741 inhabitants according to the national electoral authorities. It is considered a very good residential area. In the fine residential areas on the Riviera of the Ébrié lagoon as well as in the younger quarters of Deux Plateaux , it is mainly diplomats, government officials and the rich who reside. Accordingly, the image is shaped by spacious villas and country estates in the so-called colonial style, for which the city is known in architectural circles. The presidential residence is also here and not in the capital, Yamoussoukro .

In addition, Cocody is home to the Félix Houphouët-Boigny State University and several private universities. Other well-known companies based in Cocody are the state radio, Radiodiffusion-Télévision ivoirienne (RTI), and the Hotel Ivoire , the only hotel in Africa with an ice rink , the Pasteur Institute , which was founded in 1972 and an immense two-story market hall in which Everything is offered that can be bought in terms of African handicraft.
