Career

Ross was selected in the fourth round of the 1999 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers and played in the minor leagues until 2003 . In the 2003 season, the Tigers used him in six games and transferred him to the Los Angeles Dodgers after the end of the season . The 2004 season Ross spent again in the minor leagues. Also in 2005 he was mostly used in the Dodgers triple-A team, the Las Vegas 51s, but also had a few games in the MLB in June and July.

At the beginning of the 2006 season, Ross was transferred from the Dodgers to the Cincinnati Reds , who in turn sold him to the Florida Marlins in late May 2006 . Here he played in the outfield until the 2010 season . On August 21, the San Francisco Giants acquired Ross to prevent him from going to division rival San Diego Padres . They used him in 33 regular season games. At the Giants he had a batting average of .288 with three home runs and won the National League West with the team. In the Division Series against the Atlanta Braves , Ross started in all four games. A home run in the decisive fourth game equalized, another hit ensured two runs for the Giants and secured entry into the Championship Series . In the first game of this series against the Philadelphia Phillies , he hit two home runs. On the series, he had a batting average of .350 with three home runs, three doubles and five RBIs. Because of his very good performance, he was named Most Valuable Player after winning the series in Game 6. Cody Ross signed a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox on January 23, 2012 . On April 14, 2012 his first home run at a new place of work.

On December 22, 2012, Ross signed a three-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In the first meeting of the Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks on August 2, 2013 in Fenway Park in Boston , Ross scored the decisive run.

The Diamondbacks terminated the contract with Ross , who had been badly shaken by injuries in the past two years, in April 2015 , although they still have to pay a total of 9.5 million US dollars . Shortly afterwards, he signed a contract with Oakland Athletics which , however, also released him on May 3rd . Ross plans to continue his career elsewhere.
