Coentral was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Castanheira de Pera . The community had 100 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Coentral and Castanheira de Pêra were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Castanheira de Pêra e Coentral .

history

The independent community of Coentral was created in 1691 . It belonged to the Pedrógão Grande district . Since the founding of the independent district Castanheira de Pera in 1914, she belonged to this.

With a legislative decision from January 2013, the municipality was dissolved after the local elections in September 2013 and merged with the municipality of Castanheira de Pera to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Castanheira de Pêra e Coentral .

Attractions

The architectural monuments include historical houses, a fountain and sacred buildings , including the parish church Igreja Paroquial de Coentral , built in the 18th century, and after its patron saint also Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré (English: Church of Our Lady of Nazareth).

The Capela de Santo António da Neve was built at the end of the 18th century.

Coentral lies in the mountains of the Serra da Lousã . Hiking trails pass through the municipality.
