action

Cop Coffee is finally fine. He has a fresh relationship with Vanessa Manning. Their son Kareem seems to be a little more difficult, but he puts a lot of energy into the relationship. But things are not going so well at work right now. Actually, he was only supposed to deliver the drug dealer and rapper Orlando Johnson to the police station, but he was able to break free and is now on the run. He gets the blame for this as well as the spot from his superiors Detective Watts. He is then supposed to pick Kareem up from school and develop a relationship with him.

However, Kareem, an overweight, pre-pubescent would-be gangster already has a plan to get rid of his future stepfather. He has contact with Orlando Johnson's people through a school contact and has the plan to put them on Coffee. Unsuspecting, Coffee drives him to Johnson. There Kareem surprises the rapper who is holding a police officer prisoner. While he is still trying to persuade Johnson to do Coffee for him, one of Johnson's men shoots the obviously corrupt police officer. The shot startles Coffee. A shootout ensues that ends with Kareem and Coffe fleeing together.

The two go into hiding. After cops try to storm Vanessa's apartment, they quickly realize that Detective Watts is the real mastermind behind the whole operation. They stay in an hour hotel with Vanessa, who is taserted by her own son during the escape because she was acting hysterically. Kareem and Coffee try to get Captain Hill on the right track, but this one is also involved. In another shootout, he is killed by Watts. The two are caught but are able to break free. Then Orlando Johnson is on their side. He had long wanted to get out to concentrate on his rap career. So they learn that Watts still wants to pull through the deal with a foreign cartel.

The two now try to save Kareem's mother, but she has already freed herself. After an argument, the three of them part ways, but when Vanessa and Kareem leave the motel, they are kidnapped. Coffee decides to save her. In a heroic action, he frees Vanessa and Kareem. In the subsequent firefight they emerge victorious. Kareem now accepts Coffee as his mother's partner.

Reviews

The film received mostly negative ratings. On Filmstarts.de Oliver Kube only awarded 1.5 out of five stars and judged: “The annoying protagonists are no help in making the formulaic, artificially stretched crime story more entertaining. Just a few minor characters in this mild buddy-action comedy provide a laugh or two. "On Film-rezensions.de, Oliver Armknecht awarded 2 out of 10 points:" That Coffee & Kareem will discover a little more heart towards the end wants doesn't make the film any better, it's just as unimaginative here as it is with humor. (...) You are really grateful for every action scene, because it increases the chance of escaping the cruel dialogues, at least for a moment. But even that is not said, sometimes it was thought to be a good idea here to slow down and let the characters chatter. What is pretty mean, the misery only delays it further. "
