Colette Hercher

Colette Hercher is a German lawyer and has been President of the General Customs Directorate (GZD) since August 1, 2018 .

Career

After completing her legal training , Hercher joined the federal customs administration at the regional tax office in Stuttgart . From 1992 to 1998 she was a consultant for customs investigation matters at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Bonn . Then she became head of the customs investigation office in Hamburg . Later, Hercher also took over the management of the customs investigation office in Kiel . From 2001 to 2008 she had various tasks as head of specialist, organizational and personnel groups in Chemnitz , Hanover and Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . Hercher became head of the Federal Finance Directorate North in Hamburg in 2008 and, in January 2016, after the establishment of the General Customs Directorate, President of Directorate V (general customs law ). In July 2016 she returned to the Federal Ministry of Finance as Ministerial Director and Head of Department for Customs , Excise and Sales Tax .

On August 1, 2018, Colette Hercher, succeeding Uwe Schröder, took over the management of the General Customs Directorate and was appointed to her post by Federal Minister Olaf Scholz on September 11 of that year .
