Colligny is a commune déléguée in the French commune Colligny-Maizery with 395 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

Colligny is located about 10.5 kilometers east of Metz at an altitude between 218 and 285 m above sea level. The area of ​​the Commune déléguée covers 3.61 km².

history

The village was first mentioned in 977 as Collau or Collini . It was probably originally a Gallo-Roman settlement. The municipality was at times an enclave of the Duchy of Lorraine in the Diocese of Metz .

From 1940 to 1944 it had the Germanized name Kollingen .

With effect from June 1, 2016, the municipality of Colligny was merged with Maizery to form the Commune nouvelle Colligny-Maizery. It belonged to the arrondissement of Metz and the canton of Pange .
