Colomba is a German silent film melodrama from 1918 by Konrad Wieder . Erna Morena took over the title role .

action

Somewhere in the country in Spain. The young Colomba marries the farmer Gonzales for financial reasons. Some time later, she meets the much younger Henrik van Rhyn and suddenly falls in love with him. An overdose of the medicine Gonzales needs, given by Colomba, drives her old husband from life to death. Now she is free for Henrik, but both happiness do not last long. Juan, who was once rejected by her and who was also keenly interested in Colomba, wants to take revenge on her. He goes to the police and explains that Colomba deliberately killed her husband. Henrik turns away from her and Colomba dies of a broken heart.

Production notes

The original Colomba was 1653 meters long and was premiered on November 8, 1918 in the Tauentzienpalast . When it was re-censored in 1921, the film had to be shortened to 1,348 meters.

Ernst Stern created the buildings .
