The Comair flight 3272 was a scheduled flight from Cincinnati to Detroit , which ended on January 9, 1997 with the crash of an Embraer EMB 120 while approaching Detroit airport .

The machine took off at 2:53 p.m. for Flight 3272 from Cincinnati Airport . After just under an hour of flight time, the pilots began to approach Detroit Airport. The air traffic controller instructed the pilots to descend to 4,000 feet and turn right on course 180. About 45 seconds later, the pilots should turn left on course 090 to get onto the glide path. This curve it came to the stall and the pilot lost control of the aircraft, which then on a field in Monroe ( Michigan crashed). All 29 people on board died.

Cause of accident

The NTSB found that the aircraft was icy because the de-icing system was not effective enough. It was also found that the pilots had gone below the permissible minimum speed for icy wings and thus triggered the stall.
