Mayday - alarm in the cockpit is since 2003 produced in Canada docudrama - television series that air accidents treated and incidents. It is broadcast internationally. Railway and shipping accidents are also discussed under the heading of Crash Scene Investigation .

action

Mayday recreates the flight in each episode, with the episodes usually starting at the airport. The interior shots are shot with actors, with the same cabin being set up differently depending on the airline's colors, the exterior views are animations. The whole flight is shown realistically with misfortune and consequences. If possible, interviews with eyewitnesses or passengers are also embedded in the plot. After the flight and the accident have been depicted, the investigations are re-enacted. At the end, a short conclusion is drawn.

production

Cineflix began production for Mayday on August 13, 2002 on a budget of CDN $ 2.5 million after Channel Five put the six-part, 1-hour series into production. To keep costs down, most of the production was done at Cineflix's offices in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During production, the series to has been France 5 , Discovery Channel and Canal D sold. On June 2, 2003, Cineflix announced that they were selling the series to TVNZ , Seven Network, and Holland Media Group . Later that year, on October 10, a month before the first season aired, Cineflix announced that they had signed a major international deal with the National Geographic Channel to bring Mayday to 144 countries and 26 languages.

In 2011, Smithsonian Networks aired the fifth season, which was renamed Air Disasters , which made it the first time in the United States that Mayday aired on a station other than National Geographic. On January 25, 2012, Cineflix Rights announced that seasons 8, 9 and 11 (23 episodes) would be sold to Smithsonian Networks. On March 28, 2014, Cineflix Rights announced a contract with Smithsonian Networks for seasons 3, 4 and 13 (34 episodes).
