At the Commonwealth Games 2006 in the Australian metropolis of Melbourne , a 7-a-side rugby tournament for men took place.

The venue was the Telstra Dome .

The preliminary round matches were played on March 16, the final round on the following day.

The winner of the tournament was New Zealand, which defeated England in the final with 29:21. in the bronze medal match, Fiji beat Australia 24:17.
