At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast , Australia , two 7-a-side rugby competitions were held from April 13-15, 2018 . These each comprised a competition for women and for men. A total of eight women's teams and 16 men's teams qualified. The venue was the Robina Stadium . The women's tournament was held for the first time as part of the games.

Men

New Zealand beat Fiji 14-0 in the final and won gold. The bronze medal went to England , who defeated South Africa 21:14 in the game for third place .

Women

New Zealand was also victorious in the women’s race. The final opponent was Australia , who was defeated 17:12. England took bronze again, this time with a 24:19 win over Canada .
