The Companhia Estadual de Engenharia de Transportes e Logística (founded in May 2001), known under the abbreviation CENTRAL , is a Brazilian railway company in the state of Rio de Janeiro . It operates a meter-gauge route network with a total route length of 52.3 km. Two more routes are under construction or in planning.

Railway lines

The state company was founded with the purpose of continuing the operation of the previous company Flumitrens and administering and operating the remaining public transport routes in the Rio de Janeiro area . All other routes have been licensed to the private operator Supervia . CENTRAL is also responsible for the operation of the famous Santa Teresa tram (Bonde de Santa Teresa) .
