Competizione dell 'Opera
The Competizione dell 'Opera is an international singing competition of the Italian opera .
In 1996, with the “I Cestelli Competizione dell 'Opera”, an international competition for Italian opera was launched by Hermann Rauhe (President of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater), Peter Ruzicka (Artistic Director of the Hamburg State Opera) and Rainer Wulff (NDR) . After its rounds in Hamburg in 1996 and 1998, the competition was able to establish itself permanently in Dresden since 2001 and further rounds in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007 .
The participants in the competition must apply for the semifinals in the preliminary round with six different arias from Italian opera. The ten best from the semifinals can then take part in the finals.
Internationally celebrated singers today were finalists and award winners of the competition, such as Marina Mescheriakova , Ashley Holland , Lado Ataneli , Anja Harteros , Carla Maria Izzo , Woo-Kyung Kim , Latonia Moore and many others. This competition has become a highly regarded talent exchange for young singers. The jury consists of representatives from European opera houses and festivals, artist agents, singers, conductors, media and university representatives. The final concert will take place in the Semperoper . In 2008 the singers will be accompanied by the Saarland Radio Orchestra .
In 2008 the competition will be organized by the Competizione dell 'Opera eV under the umbrella of the Forum Tiberius - International Forum for Culture and Economy Dresden. Under the patronage of the Saxon State Minister for Science and Art , Eva-Maria Stange , the Competizione dell 'Opera cooperates with the Saxon State Opera Dresden, the Semperoper, the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden , the Landesbühnen Sachsen , the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and the Saarland radio .
