Stephanie Atanasov (born June 4, 1983 in Vienna ) is an Austrian singer with a mezzo-soprano voice .

Life

After attending grammar school and taking her Matura , Stephanie Atanasov studied singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Helene Karousso and Gabriele Lechner among others . As part of her training, she took part in master classes with Christa Ludwig and Paul-Émile Deiber. From 2004 to 2006 a scholarship at the Académie musicale de Villecroze followed . Stephanie Atanasov has successfully participated in various music competitions since 2002. She won prizes at the Austrian youth music competition Prima la musica (2002), the Klassik-Mania (2004) and the Competizione dell 'Opera (2008).

Stephanie Atanasov was a member of the ensemble of the Semperoper in Dresden from 2006 until the end of the 2011/2012 season , after having previously belonged to the young ensemble of the Semperoper from 2005 to 2006. At the beginning of her time in Dresden she already sang a number of major roles in her field, including the Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro , the Valencienne in The Merry Widow and the Dorabella in Così fan tutte . She later appeared in Dresden as Sesto Pompeo in Giulio Cesare in Egitto , as Dido in Dido and Aeneas and as Smeton in Anna Bolena .

In the 2012/2013 season, Stephanie Atanasov moved to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin . She currently sings the roles of Rosina in The Barber of Seville and Ramiro in La finta giardiniera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in a new version of the libretto by Hans Neuenfels .

In 2008 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival with an appearance in the opera Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák . Guest performances have taken Stephanie Atanasov to the opera houses in Kiel , Bremen and Düsseldorf . She also gives recitals . She appears together with Ludwig Güttler and the Virtuosi Saxoniae chamber orchestra .
