conXious is a rock band from Vienna ( Austria ).
Band history
The band was founded in 1991 by Alex Ghezzo (guitar), Michael Ghezzo (drums) and Willie Brenner (bass). Initially nameless, Ina Faerber joined the band a year later and was renamed Mindgallery shortly afterwards. From 1994 they toured under the name Brainstorm, later Mindgallery in Vienna and the surrounding area. Around 1996, with the new members Max Kainz and Clemens Faerber, the name was changed to conXious. The line-up of Clemens Faerber (vocals), Alexander Ghezzo (guitar), Marcus Kainz (guitar), Ina Faerber (bass) and Michael Ghezzo (drums) produced the first album, Studiodays . The successor Portraits followed in 2000 .
In 2003, an almost completely new line-up was found with Alex Ranic Dimoski (vocals), Alexander Ghezzo (guitar), Victor Gabriel (bass) and Michael Ghezzo (drums). With this line-up, the third album Between Arrival and Departure was created , which was released in September. Already in 2004 a new singer joined Albert Leibel. With this, the album Never Before / Never Again was released in 2005 . Shortly afterwards Ina Faerber got back on board.
conXious then tried its hand as an organizer for demanding events in the field of progressive rock and progressive metal and increasingly appeared as support for bands such as Arena , The Flower Kings , Pain of Salvation , Spock's Beard , Sieges Even , IQ and Riverside . Furthermore, the line-up changed continuously. The band currently consists of Christian Alexander Wurm (vocals), Alexander Ghezzo (guitar), Michal Robert Piatek (bass) and Michael Ghezzo (drums).
In 2016 her last, self-titled album was released with Michael G. Reiter as singer, who left the band a short time later. All previous albums were released as own productions and were recorded in the band's own studio in Vienna-Floridsdorf .
In 2017 Christian A. Wurm became the band's new singer.
In 2018 the first gig with Christian as the new singer took place on March 4th at the Vienna Life Music Club Replugged.
Music genre
Following the tradition of the classic progressive rock bands ( Yes , Fates Warning , Dream Theater ), this Viennese rock band differs from most progressive rock bands mainly in that they do not have the usual bombastic keyboard arrangements. The line-up is more reminiscent of a heavy metal band. The guitar playing is therefore more oriented towards rock and is condensed by additional guitar tracks in the studio recordings. Their style is often referred to as pure guitar rock, in whose sound different influences from other musical styles can be found.
