Conde de Osborne Dalí is the brand name of a brandy from the traditional southern Spanish company Osborne , which belongs to the top Spanish quality classification in the luxury class. Production takes place in the Andalusian coastal town of El Puerto de Santa María , bordering the Bay of Cádiz .

history

The Osborne family begged the early 1960s, the Spanish painter Salvador Dalí is to create in honor of Juan Nicolás Osborne, one of two sons of the company founder Thomas Osborne, an artistically designed bottle. Osborne was raised to the rank of count (Spanish: Conde) in 1869 for his services in the diplomatic corps and from then on was named Juan Nicolás Conde de Osborne . In 1964, Dalí created a white porcelain bottle and the label for this brandy, which was then launched on the luxury market under the name Conde de Osborne Dalí . The label of the bottle shows a stylized tearful or blue-bleeding bull heart with a likewise stylized crown above, based on the coat of arms of the Osborne family branch. Dalí wanted, among other things, in return for his surrealistic design, a television appearance in an Osborne commercial for the Brandy Osborne Veterano . In 1965 the ten-second spot was broadcast three times. Dalí sat on a throne in it and wrote the words "Veterano has it!" On the screen. In another spot for Brandy Veterano, he drew the contours of the Iberian Peninsula in the air with a sparkling wand .

Manufacture and classification

The brandy Conde de Osborne Dalí is aged for ten years in wooden barrels made of white oak, which were previously used for the Oloroso Pedro Ximénez, using the Spanish Solera method . The brandy comes under the EU-protected and guaranteed designation of origin Brandy de Jerez in limited editions and in the highest Spanish quality Gran Reserva Solera .

Characteristic

The brandy has a mahogany color with cloudy shades. Due to the long ripening time, it takes on an aroma in which nuances of plums , raisins and vanilla emerge. The Conde de Osborne Dalí contains 40.5 percent alcohol by volume .
