Conrad Friedrich Otbert von Bistram (born April 17, 1816 in Jakobstadt , † March 16, 1890 in Mitau ) was a Courland Baron , Lord of Groesen, Land Marshal and President of the Court of Justice in Mitau.

Life

Bistram studied in 1836 at the University of Goettingen jurisprudence . He was from 1839 to 1843 Assessor at Doblenschen captain - court , from 1844 to 1849 the chief captain -Gericht in Mitau and provisional member in Kurzeme Kosistoriums. From 1849 to 1856 noble captain in Bauske and from 1856 to 1861 chief captain in Tuckum . From 1861 Bistram was the first youngest councilor, from 1868 Land Marshal, from 1874 Oberburggraf . From 1878 he was Chancellor and from 1879 to 1889 President of the Courland High Court in Mitau. From 1889 he served as an honorary peace judge .

Origin and family

Conrad von Bistram came from the Baltic von Bistram (Haus Born-Rimahlen and Sussey). His father was the president of the Kurländischen Consistory Carl Gotthard Wilhelm Ernst von Bistram (1777-1841), who was married to Appolonia von Engelhardt . In 1849 Conrad married Franziska von Pfeilitzer-Franck from the Strutteln family (Kurland). The eldest son Franz Alexander von Bistram (* 1851 in Bauske ; † 1908 in Riga ) was a judge in Groesen, his second son Wilhelm Rodrigo von Bistram (* 1855 in Groesen; † 1902 in Ossek) was a Catholic priest . Franz Alexander's grandson, Konrad Franz von Bistram (* 1927), died in Bremen in 2016 .
